Emotional Abuse

Emotional abuse deeply affects a child's self-esteem by submitting him or her to verbal assault or emotional cruelty. It does not always involve injuries one can see. It can include close confinement, such as being shut in a closet, extreme discipline, belittling, blaming, verbal put-downs or comparing a child with other children.
All other types of abuse are also emotionally abusive. ...but Jesus called for the children, saying: "Let the little children come to me. Do not shut them off. The reign of God belongs to such as these."

Luke 18:16
